Spend Holidays in Lisbon / Support an artist in Berlin

Hi!
Thank you for your interest in my home in Lisbon.

My flat is a cozy and comfortable place, with an area of 40 m2, ideal for 3 people (4 maximum). It’s fully equipped and has many amenities. The view over downtown and city castle is unique in Lisbon.

The loft is located in a place called Largo do Carmo, which was center stage for one of the most important and inspiring chapters in recent portuguese history: The Carnation Revolution (Revolução dos Cravos), also referred to as the 25 de Abril, was a left-leaning military coup started on April 25, 1974, in Lisbon that effectively changed the Portuguese regime from an authoritarian dictatorship to a democracy.

It is located in a central district of Lisbon, the District of Sacramento, located in Chiado.

Chiado is also a traditional but cosmopolitan shopping area that mixes old and modern commercial establishments, specially concentrated in Carmo and Rua Garrett. Locals as well as tourists visit Chiado to buy books, garments, pottery, second-hand or designer products, as well as to have a cup of coffee or taste the exquisite national pastries.

The most famous café in Chiado is “A Brasileira” (The Brazilian), famous for having had poet Fernando Pessoa among its customers, as well as many other writers and artists that used to meet there. Chiado is also an important cultural area, with several museums, Art galleries and theaters.

Several buildings in Chiado were destroyed in a terrible fire in 1988, an event that deeply shocked the country. Thanks to a renovation project that lasted more than 10 years, coordinated by celebrated architect Siza Vieira, the affected area is now recovered.

It would be my pleasure to have you there. Best regards, Jorge Cruz

Lisbon contending for World Travel Awards
Lisbon has once again been nominated for the prestigious World Travel Awards 2010 in four categories: Europe’s Leading Destination, Europe’s Leading City Break Destination, Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination and Europe’s Leading Cruise Port.
Considered by “The Wall Street Journal” as the “Tourism Oscars,” the World Travel Awards (WTA) distinguishes the world’s leading tourist destinations for their service excellence.
Last year, Lisbon triumphed at the European awards by winning the categories of Europe’s Leading Destination, Leading City Break Destination and Leading Cruise Destination.
The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 and winners are elected through online voting – open to 183,000 travel agency and hospitality professionals throughout 160 countries from all continents.
